PRESS RELEASE: HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION HEARINGS

The City of Temple will hold public hearings to discuss the potential opting out of the floating homestead exemption.
The City has announced that it will hold three public hearings to discuss the potential for the City to opt out of the floating homestead exemption. Based on the fact that the City must follow a mandated process to opt or otherwise be automatically included then these public hearings will be conducted to hear any interested parties on the subject.
The hearings will start on Monday, February 3, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. at the Temple Senior Center, 280 Rome Street, Temple and again on Monday, February 10 2025 at 2:00 p.m. and Monday, February 17, 2025 at 4:00 all of which are also at the Temple Senior Center.
The Mayor & Council may choose to call for a Special Called Meeting on Monday, February 24, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. to vote on a resolution opting out of the homestead exemption pursuant to O.C.G.A 48-5-44.2.
